Publication fees

EPD Danmark is a non-profit organisation. Its revenues cover the costs of developing and maintaining the EPD programme.

Publishing an EPD through EPD Danmark includes both a PDF and a digital file (ILCD+EPD format). All EPDs are published in the EPD Danmark database and the ECO Platform’s database – the ECO Portal.

The administration fee and registration fee cover the handling of each EPD and its publication. In addition, revenue goes towards the development of the EPD program, operation and maintenance of the EPD database, digitalization, website updates, maintenance and qualification of the verifier group, and the further development of technical guidelines. Revenue also supports international harmonization, e.g., via ECO Platform, our MR partners, and other participation in standardization activities.

The agreement with EPD Danmark to publish an EPD follows the EPD’s validity – typically 5 years. The agreement includes annual administration and registration fees, which are usually invoiced at the beginning of the year. The different fees are specified below.

If your company wishes to discontinue cooperation before the period ends, EPD Danmark must receive written notice no later than July 1st to avoid fees for the following year.

Below are the fees for EPD Danmark effective as of 1 September 2025. Please note that the fee structure may change during the validity period of the EPD. All fees are stated excluding VAT.

NOTE. All fees given in € are approximate values based on fees in DKK.

Annual Administration Fee (per company)

When publishing one or more EPDs via EPD Danmark, an annual administration fee applies. The fee depends on the company’s total revenue at the time of the agreement, but is independent of the number of EPDs.

Company turnover* Annual Adm. Fee
Below 15 mil. DKK/year (approx. 2 mil. €)  DKK 3.000 (400 €)
Between 15 and 75 million. DKK / year (approx. 2 mil. – 10 mil. €)  DKK 6.000 (800 €)
between 75 and 375 million. DKK / year (approx. 10 mil. – 50 mil. €)  DKK 12.000 (1,610 €)
Groups** DKK 18.000 (2,420 €)
Industry organisations DKK 5.000 (670 €)

Revenue is defined as the company’s gross income before subtraction of costs, taxes, or other expenses. The revenue is linked to the company’s CVR number.

**A group is characterised by consisting of several legally independent companies with their own CVR numbers, but which are financially linked and typically managed under a common leadership or ownership structure. If there are two different legal entities within a company, each with its own CVR number, and both receive an EPD, they may join together at a group level and potentially reduce the total administration fee.

Annual Registration Fee (per EPD)

In addition to the administration fee, there is an annual registration fee for publishing one or more EPDs via EPD Danmark. The registration fee covers publication and all administrative handling throughout the EPD’s lifetime, including uploads of revisions and handling of complaints.

The registration fee depends on the number of EPDs published by the company.

Number of EPDs Annual Reg. Fee per EPD
1–4 EPDs DKK 2,500 (335 €)
5 and above DKK 2,000 (270 €)
Private Labelling* DKK 2,500 (335 €)

*Private labelling refers to a situation where a company wishes to publish a copy of an existing EPD under its own name and brand, but the product is produced by another company. This means that the company publishing the private label EPD presents the product as its own, even though it is manufactured by a third party, and the original EPD belongs to that third party. In connection with private labelling, there must be an agreement between the private label EPD holder and the manufacturer, stating that the private label EPD owner must always be informed about changes in production that may affect the EPD results. Please contact EPD Danmark for a template agreement if needed.

If your company plans to publish a large number of EPDs, please contact us for a special offer.

EPDs published through mutual recognition agreements

For EPDs published in another EPD program with which EPD Danmark has a mutual recognition agreement, it is possible to publish these EPDs with a one-time fee. See which agreements EPD Danmark has entered here.

One-time fee for publication through mutual recognition (per EPD) DKK 2,500 (335 €)

EPDs published using EPD and LCA tools

If you have a production consisting of many different products or configurations, it may be relevant to publish EPDs via a dedicated tool that can easily be adapted to new product configurations. The costs payable to EPD Danmark for publishing EPDs via a tool consist of the administration fee per user (see above), a tool approval fee and a registration fee per EPD.

The approval fee covers a 3-year period, matching the tool’s validity. The fee covers review by EPD Denmark, support in registration and approval processes, integration of the tool into EPD Danmark’s procedures and systems, and general development of the EPD Denmark tool procedures.

The registration fees associated with EPDs published through a tool are lower than for conventionally developed EPDs. This is because EPD Denmark’s costs per EPD are typically lower for these types of EPDs.

Tool approval fee (valid 3 years) DKK 20,000 (2,685 €)
Annual registration fee per EPD, 1–25 DKK 850 (115 €)
Annual registration fee per EPD, 26+ DKK 650 (87 €)

EPD Validity Period

The agreement with EPD Danmark to publish an EPD follows the validity of the EPD. The EPD is valid for 5 years unless changes in production occur that would alter the EPD results by more than 10%. The validity can also be shortened if errors are discovered that are not corrected, or if the agreement with EPD Danmark is breached. See more details in the General Programme Instructions.

It is possible to shorten the EPD validity period, e.g., if it represents a project-specific product and is only relevant for a limited time. This shorter period must be agreed with EPD Danmark when registering the EPD at the project’s outset.

EPD Owner Responsibility

It is always the EPD owner’s responsibility that the data in the EPD is accurate and that the EPD has been prepared in accordance with the applicable EPD standard and EPD Danmark’s Technical Rules and Guidelines at the time of publication. The EPD owner is also responsible for updating the EPD if there are changes in production that affect the product’s environmental impacts.

Other Costs Associated with EPDs

EPD Danmark does not prepare the individual EPDs; this is typically done by an LCA consultant. The EPD must be based on a life cycle assessment (LCA), which is also most often performed by an LCA consultant. The cost for this is settled directly between the LCA consultant and the EPD owner. The price depends, among other things, on the scope (which life cycle stages are included), how many products are included in the EPD, and how many EPDs are to be developed. Typically, it is the LCA work itself (model development, data collection, analysis) that forms the main cost, rather than the actual EPD document. The EPD summarizes the results of this work.

On top of the EPD preparation price comes the verification. This is also a matter between the verifier (approved by EPD Danmark) and the EPD owner.
